Come to a special half-day Conference of members of the Labour Party in our Borough.
This Conference is open to all Labour members in Ealing Borough, but is particularly designed for those of you for whom this election was your first experience of campaigning or who have recently joined the Party.
Hundreds more people than usual were involved in the campaign to elect Rupa Huq as the MP for Ealing Central & Acton. We are keen to keep this enthusiasm and activity continuing into our campaigns in the rest of 2015 and 2016 to re-elect Onkar Sahota as our local GLA member and elect a Labour Mayor of London, and our year-round campaigning to promote and support Rupa, Steve Pound MP, Virendra Sharma MP and our record-breaking 53 Labour Councillors.
This will not be a Conference with set-piece speeches or long powerpoint presentations. We want to hear from you about your views on our campaigning - what worked and what didn't, what was enjoyable and what was tedious, and what felt like it was making a difference and what felt pointless. We aim to have much of the day in groups so we can talk informally and capture all views in order to guide our future campaigning.
We also hope to have our Borough Leader Cllr Julian Bell present to enable us to discuss the challenges facing our Labour Council, particularly after the election of a majority Tory Government. However, if you wish, you'd also be welcome just to come along and listen rather than talk, and hopefully learn some useful information for you to use as a Party member.
Dr Onkar Sahota AM, our local London Assembly member for Ealing & Hillingdon, will be attending the Conference, and we'll spend some of the day with Onkar talking about how we can seek to ensure his re-election - his majority is currently only 3,110 across two Boroughs, and this may therefore be as tough a fight as that to get Rupa elected. Our Borough Organiser Seph Brown will brief us on the current state of play.
If you can come along to what should be an interesting and enjoyable afternoon, please RSVP to confirm your interest.
The Conference is entirely free and we will be providing basic refreshments of tea, coffee and soft drinks. After the Conference, if you wish, there will be an opportunity to continue the discussion informally in one of Hanwell's excellent community pubs, in which we will seek to book a dedicated area for us.
How to Find the Special Conference:
Hanwell Methodist Church is well located for public transport, with the E3 bus stopping outside and buses 207, 427, 607, 83 and 195 stopping nearby on the Uxbridge Road. Hanwell rail station (with trains from Southall and Ealing Broadway) is a short walk away, and Drayton Green rail station (with trains from Acton Main Line and Greenford) is about a ten minute walk away. We have secured the use for the afternoon of two dedicated car parking spaces next to the Church (which will be used for disabled parking - please contact me if you wish to book one). There is no controlled parking zone in the surrounding area.

I look forward to seeing as many as possible of you on the 27th

p.s We will also be holding an all-day Borough Conference in Northolt in the Autumn - so the 27th won't be your only chance to join in our Borough-wide discussions. Alternatively, if you can’t make the Conference, please feel to send in your views to firstname.lastname@example.org.
